Handsome King of the Apes: This was definitely one of my
favorite stories in this unit. At the beginning of the story, an egg comes out
of a rock that was said to have absorbed all the hidden seed power of heaven
and earth. Out of this stone egg hatched a stone ape. The ape learned to walk
and grew stronger every day. All of the other apes said if someone were able to
jump through to the other side of the waterfall, then they would become kind of
the apes. He did just that and was given the name “handsome King of the Apes”.
I liked this story because it was about apes. Apes are one of my favorite
animals.

The Master: In this story there is a master that is to teach
the ape. He brings up many different subjects in which he can teach to the ape
but the ape says no to each of them because they cannot bring him eternal life.
He goes to him at night in hopes that he tells him the secret for eternal life
but he never does. I thought this story to be very interesting. It wasn’t that
good overall, but I did like the way it was written. The next story gives more
info about this.
Learning the Art: This story the master actually told the
ape the secrets of how to live an eternal life. The ape then practices the art
everyday in hopes to master it. At the end of the story the master asks the ape
if he has learned how to fly yet, and the ape replies yes. This story is good
and made the last story make a lot more sense. This whole unit is basically one
long story, separated into multiple short stories. I like the way they did that
because it keeps you wanting to read the next story.
